Guyana’s First Lady and Project Happiness Director Adopt ReThink’s Kind Soles Initiative

Over the last couple months the Kind Soles team has been working feverishly to bring more pairs of The Shoe That Grows to the children of the indigenous tribes of Guyana. As such, ReThink has partnered with two inspirational women who hold this cause near and dear to their hearts.

The First Lady of Guyana, Her Excellency Mrs. Sandra Granger, was instrumental in bringing this initiative to fruition and continues to play an integral role in the identification of the tribes in need, as well as the distribution of the shoes. In celebration of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary of Independence, the First Lady has launched a fundraiser in an effort to get more shoes for the children of the indigenous tribes. The fundraiser is presently underway and will end on May 26th, 2016.

“Our goal is to raise US$10,000 to purchase more than 650 pairs of shoes, and we’d like to enlist the ‘can do’ spirit of the Diaspora to provide shoes for our nation’s children so that they can walk to school comfortably,” the First Lady said.

Brook Dorff, the Director of Operations and Development of the Project Happiness team out of California is also on a mission to get shoes to the children of the hinterland. Brook was trying to figure out the best way to celebrate her 30th birthday when she came across ReThink and the Kind Soles Project. Within one conversation, she knew this would become the best way to celebrate leaving her 20’s! What could be better than bringing people together to fund 1,000 shoes for children in Guyana?

Thus far, the Kind Soles initiative has distributed over 2,000 shoes to the indigenous children of Guyana, let’s help these ladies in their mission to “Put a smile in every mile.”
